30 Paintings in 30 Days

http://30paintingsin30days.weebly.com/

I'M SO READY!  Starts September 1st, oh no, need to buy some more inking brushes.  It is the worst. A terrible tragedy that I must shop for art supplies. It's totally not what I want to be doing all the time.

Pink Flamingo!

Throwback Thursday!
So much pink!  Pretty bird on wood.  Hello, flamingo.  Actually was purchased by another artist, Ursula Vernon, at a convention/show we were both at.  I had a little bit of a moment when that happened, because her work is so awesome.

Lighthouse

SO.  I made the attempt last year to make this a teachable painting.
That was a mistake, it was way too complicated.

Still!  It's Summery

Angry Owl

Ah, this guy!  One of my favorite pieces.  On a really beefy canvas, too.

I need to handmake more canvases from brick moulding, because it made for some amazing surfaces to work on.

Throwback Thursday

Throwback Thursday!

Oh man, this is an oldie but a goodie... I do miss painting on wood, but this sort of thing tended to be too small, and end up with a lot of little detail.  I like working bigger these days. I think this one was around 9x12".

Pretty Birds

I've been going through my older artwork as I set up a new studio space, and I found these photos.

At the time I painted these, I was living in Erie, PA.  I do like the style of these, and I think I could learn from them and make new pieces in a similar style.  They're mixed media, watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencil.  While I like some of the intricate details, I also like my more recent, larger pieces that have a touch more spontaneity and motion to them.
