In conclusion: I did pretty well with this 30 day painting challenge. The whole point was to get better at studio practice, and a lot of what I do is commission or design work that's not always public. So I feel fairly happy with my work output... but I need to spend more time on fine art in addition to my illustration.

Day 31 - Be Mine!
Here's the last one! The typical sort of Valentine I make and get commissioned for.

Day 29 - Maned Wolf
I like making these little storybook animal illustrations. If you go back through my blog, you can see a lot of the others I do! I sell these at art shows as tags or badges. I have to do a snow leopard, panda, and corgi at least. I need to add a few more dog breeds and more little kitties as well.
So for now, here's a frequently requested maned wolf!

Day 28 - Cabin
Working on my sketchbooking, which is something I should be doing more of. The paper did NOT want to absorb! But I got some great effects out of it. Cabiny deliciousness.

Day 27 - Fox Face
The Lazy Artists Draws A Quick Orange Fox.
I am doing 30 paintings... they might just not be in a row.

Day 26 - Wolf portrait
Remember that time when I said I'd stop drawing animal heads for a bit? Yeah, let's both pretend I didn't say that, because here's a watercolor wolf.

Day 21 - Framed Wolf
This may end up a small series of animals and frames, we'll see.
Very easy for me to go from acrylic to watercolor. Watercolor is easier to transport by far! Back on the daily art wagon.

"Framed Wolf"
6x8" Watercolor. $70.
Day 20 - Serious Bear
Oh man, I got BUSY. Bummed that I couldn't get a piece a day finished, but I did do work for my company, and I enjoyed the company of some good friends.
Sometimes, I get the best commissions, too! This one:
"A dark gray bear. Make him really serious."
It was a productive day, but I think this was the best thing I produced. Digital painting.

Day 15 - Fox Watercolor
Whew... this was hard for me. Not to have precise control over a painting? Utter nonsense. But, in the spirit of making one new thing a day, here's a loosely painted fox.

Day 13 - Big Maple
FINALLY this is done. I don't usually do multiple sessions for paintings, but this one took me a while. Picture was taken with my phone, so I'll be doing a better photo session for it later for prints.

Prints Pending, original for sale, $400.

Day 12 - Arctic Fox
Keeping up with this! And almost done with the medium-sized painting that I've been working on for DAYS. Today, here's a fluffy arctic fox.

Day 11 - Tiny Forest
A teeny tiny forest painting.
I have a Sta-Wet Handy Palette, and it's kind of the best thing ever, keeping my paint wet for... 4 days, I think? I'm working on a larger forest painting, so this is a sample of the colors I use.

Day 9, Stone Painting
So this is actually a digital piece. I use brushes in Photoshop and a digital table to paint in a computer document rather than on a canvas. Just trying to replicate some difficult textures as an exercise. I documented the process here as well, so enjoy!
I also have a larger painting that I've been working on for 3 days now that I HOPE to have for my day 10 piece. I thought it would be done sooner, but that has been proven to be incorrect.

Day 3: Bear!
Bear... study? Not quite. Made up the background, but the bear was reffed from one of my photos. Sort of a contemplative piece for me, very relaxing to paint those blues.
